Social Networking and My Space

It seems that the younger a person is the more important it is to have lots of superficial friends
As I get older I find that a few good friends plus my best friend; my husband, and my faithful friend, my dog is more than adequate. I am outside walking my dog, working in my garden, at the pool swimming, or at the gym working out.
Sitting in front of a screen reading about some strangers life, to me is the opposite of fun.
Looking at some My Space sites it is apparent that many are very young and many do not know what they are doing.
For library staff to be trying to get with it and relate to My Space is pitiful.
Let's face it. The world is changing rapidly and radically. You do not have to jump on the express to have a full, comfortable, and enjoyable life. And in the future librarians will become obsolete.

Wiki Web 2.0

Throughout this Web 2.0 course I have been wandering around in a maze; now and then finding a straight pathway only to run into a dead end. It is assumed that everyone knows how to do what are supposedly basic things like cutting and pasting a permalink. I need help with everything; nothing is easy, and I may not remember how to do what I did again! I am really not interested in blogs or wikis; everyone has something to say and everyone thinks what they have to say is most important.
